Remarks: Flagtail Prochilodus (Semaprochilodus taeniurus) are large characins from South America that make great tankmates for larger South American cichlids that do not have long fins. They have shiny, silver bodies with large, pursed lips and a red and black flagtail pattern on their caudal fin. They can be aggressive towards their own kind and other fish, especially if not kept in large enough numbers to keep them preoccupied with their hierarchy and make them feel secure.
