Safran Peacock

Remarks: The safran peacock, also known as the saffron peacock, is a a striking fish that has been line-bred in Germany to produce a fish with electric yellow colors. It is unknown if the original fish were one species that was just simply line-bred from the start, or hybridized and then line-bred. When mature, males will be mostly yellow or sometimes pink/orange while females are a faded peach color. We offer both standard yellow males and pink/orange males when available. Much like dragon blood peacocks, there are occasional black pigmentation spots on these fish. These can develop and even sometimes disappear anytime throughout the fish's life and do not affect their health.
