Red Cheek Tropheops

Remarks: Tropheops species such as the Red Cheeks are separated from other mbuna by their sloping forehead and small lower jaw. They feed by biting filamentous algae on rocks and twisting their bodies to separate it. The contrast between the blue males with yellow-orange faces and all yellow-orange females makes them a perfect choice for a small breeding project, as you will have color regardless of gender.

  These are NOT a species of Tropheus and only have a similar name due to having a similar shape and behavior.
