Remarks: Dwarf Gouramis (Trichogaster lalius) have a specialized breathing organ called a labyrinth allows these fish to take oxygen directly from the atmosphere. They are well adapted to sluggish water with plenty of plants to provide cover. In an aquarium, they prefer slow-moving water with gentle tankmates, such as small schooling fish and small catfish. Males of this variety are red and blue striped, while females are brown with only subtle striping visible.
