Yellow Tiger King Cobra Guppy (Poecilia reticulata)
Remarks:Ā The yellow tiger king cobra guppy is a favorite among those who love patterns in their guppies. Mature males are yellow or gold in color and have a snakeskin pattern on their elegantly long dorsal and caudal (tail) fins. Their bodies have a bold, black, striated cobra pattern along with thick vertical bars. Females are mainly silver in color with some getting a bit of color in the fins and a few black blotches on their body giving them a dalmatian look. This unique patterning on males and females of this strain of guppy make them a unique and eye-catching variant.
Ā A perfect starter fish! Guppies (Poecilia reticulata) are peaceful community fish that reproduce with ease. They are livebearers, meaning the females release live fry rather than laying eggs. It is recommended to keep more females than males, as males can easily harass females with relentless attempts to reproduce, leading to stress in the females.
Ā For most strains, males are very colorful while the females remain a gray or silver color. However, there are some exceptions to this rule so sexing these fish is best done by looking at the anal fin. The females will have short, rounded triangle shaped anal fins with a black spot on the body directly above it, these are her female reproductive organs. Males will have long, thin, pointed anal fins that form his male reproductive organs called the gonopodium.
