Remarks: True Parrot Cichlids (Hoplarchus psittacus) are extremely beautiful, showing emerald-green coloration with dark bands and bright red eyes. They are found in blackwater streams in Colombia and Brazil. They will live in a large tank with other South American cichlids, such as Severums, Chocolate Cichlids, Angelfish, and Geophagus. Because of their size, we recommend at least a 90 gallon for a single fish or pair, and a 125 gallon for more fish.
