Remarks: The Santa Isabel Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) come from theĀ the Rio NegroĀ near Santa Isabel, Brazil.

Ā  These fish are commonly imported in as "Santa Isabel Altums" due to their similar body shape, but they areĀ Pterophyllum scalare. Both males and females of these wild type angels have red from their head to the tip of their dorsal upon maturity and when in the right conditions.

Angelfish do best when housed in South American community setups. Pairs may act aggressively when spawning, but the species is typically peaceful overall. Provide them with plenty of tall decorations such as driftwood and sword plants to swim through and use as spawning surfaces.
