Remarks: The Red Back Amapa Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) come from the state of Amapa, Brazil. Both males and females get strong red foreheads and backs, with several black vertical bars and a golden body making for a truly stunning example of a wild-form of angelfish.

Angelfish are great for peaceful and semi-aggressive South American community setups. Pairs may act aggressively, but the species is typically peaceful overall. Provide them with plenty of tall decorations such as driftwood and Amazon Sword plants to swim through and use as spawning surfaces.
