Rainbow Cichlid

Remarks: Rainbow Cichlids (Herotilapia multispinosa) have been popular in the hobby for decades, and for good reason. They are fairly peaceful compared to many South American cichlids, they do not grow large enough to outgrow most tanks, and their color is certainly worthy of their name.

Breeding Rainbow Cichlids is similar to most South American egg-layers. Tankmates include medium to large tetras, barbs, rainbowfish, or livebearers. Catfish may be included, but some territoriality during breeding from the cichlids is to be expected.
