Star Sapphire

Remarks: Star sapphires are a close relative of the Mdoka White Lip, though these fish do not grow the signature white lips. Instead, adult males will be covered in light blue sparkles, reminding us of an elegant constellation embedded in a sapphire gemstone. These fish mature very slowly and usually won't start "chipping," a term used to describe when their sparkly pattern starts to set in, until they are at least a year or two old. Patience is key with star sapphires and it definitely pays off once you see what a gem they become.
