Peacock Moss (Taxiphyllum sp.)
Remarks: Peacock moss (Taxiphyllum sp.) is a more uncommon moss in the hobby with a look similar to that of Christmas moss. Like Christmas moss, peacock moss forms branched fronds but differs in that they are more uniform, less fluffy, and have an overall softer look. While peacock moss isn't quite as hardy or fast growing as java moss, it still can't be considered as a demanding plant. With patience and a little closer attention to parameters, peacock moss can be a great addition to many aquascapes when allowed to grow attached to structures such as decor, wood, or rocks. While it grows best when attached to structures like other mosses, some have found they can get it to grow in like a carpet on gravel substrates if planted in small tufts under high light.
The moss comes on a wire grate about 3" x 3", which can be directly placed in the aquarium.
