Midas Cichlid
Remarks: Aptly named for their brilliant color, the Midas cichlid (Amphilophus citrinellus) is a great choice for a large cichlid community or single-specimen tank. Their common name comes from the tale of King Midas from Greek mythology who was said to have the ability to turn anything he touches to gold. Midas cichlids grow up to 14" and have gold and white patterns that develop as they age. Males will develop a nuchal hump in the forehead region, similar to Flowerhorns and other Central American cichlids. These fish are highly aggressive and should be given plenty of space to swim.
