Remarks: Melanochromis chipokae are similar to M. auratus in appearance, sharing the two horizontal bars along the lateral line and the base of the dorsal fin. However, male M. chipokae are a navy blue with light blue bars and fins, rather than black and white. Like other Melanochromis, they are highly aggressive.
