Gardneri Killifish

Remarks: Gardneri Killifish (Fundulopanchax gardneri) are also known as Blue Gularis, Stee-Blue, and Clausen's Killifish. They are extremely colorful little fish from Nigeria and Cameroon, where they live in forest streams with low flow and lots of leaf litter and plant cover. They thrive in well planted tanks and do not seem picky about lighting conditions.

Ā  Killifish are very personable and will typically be active, darting around the tank, displaying to females or other males. It is advised to keep only one male per tank to avoid aggression, however. These fish can be housed successfully in tanks as small as ten gallons, but lots of cover should be provided to let the female rest between spawnings. Killifish are also excellent jumpers, and a tight-fitting lid is required to keep them safe.
