Cryptoheros nanoluteus

Remarks: Cryptoheros nanoluteus is an endangered species and is on the CARES list. This fish is from Central America and will typically do well with fish that have a less aggressive temperament. They are bright yellow fish and are sometimes referred as Yellow Convicts. Since this fish is endangered we highly recommend hobbyists try to breed them at home. Sexing this fish is easy: Mature males will grow larger and can form a small hump, and females will have a distinctive black circle in the middle of the dorsal fin. Do not keep these fish with other Cryptoheros to avoid hybridization.
