Blue Metal Snakeskin Guppy (Poecilia reticulata)

Remarks:  The blue metal snakeskin guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is an absolutely incredible looking strain that was created by mixing snakeskin and moscow lines. The result is a fish with almost a perfect 50/50 split in the traits of these lines. Adult male blue metal snakeskin guppies have a front half that resembles moscow guppies with a solid, metallic blue color. The back half takes after the snakeskin line with a yellow-green color topped with a striated pattern. This pattern may also be present in the fins but they can also be just solid blue in color. Female usually lack color like other female guppies, but some mature females will also get blue in their fins similar to the males.

A perfect starter fish! Guppies (Poecilia reticulata) are peaceful community fish that reproduce with ease. They are livebearers, meaning the females release live fry rather than laying eggs. It is recommended to keep more females than males, as males can easily harass females with relentless attempts to reproduce, leading to stress in the females.

For most strains, males are very colorful while the females remain a gray or silver color. However, there are some exceptions to this rule so sexing these fish is best done by looking at the anal fin. The females will have short, rounded triangle shaped anal fins with a black spot on the body directly above it, these are her female reproductive organs. Males will have long, thin, pointed anal fins that form his male reproductive organs called the gonopodium.
